Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) and African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set the groundwork for cooperation and interoperability between Buna, the cross-border and multi-currency payment system owned by the AMF, and the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS), owned by Afreximbank. In order to respond to the growing demand for air travel in the UAE, the largest airline in the country, Emirates, will double its flight frequency between Algiers and Dubai from two to four flights weekly, starting 1st May, 2022. The service between Algiers and Dubai will no longer be linked with Tunis, providing more flexibility and convenience for travelers to travel to Dubai and onwards to Emirates’ extensive network of 130 destinations. National Marine Dredging Company (NMDC) posted a significant increase of 146 percent in net profit to AED65.4 million in Q1 2022, compared to AED26.6 million in the prior year. Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, will undertake a week of intensive research and testing over 30 flights to assess operational efficiencies, technology and procedures that will reduce carbon emissions, as part of its ongoing sustainability flight testing program.
